August Wrap Up and Book Haul

I had a pretty good reading month this month. I read 7 books, almost half of that being the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Including the amazing Queen of Shadows which comes out on September 1st!

In other interesting news, earlier this month I was featured by Hazel from Stay Bookish for her Novel Portraits feature. So that was super exciting!

I also got a new lens for my camera, the Lensbaby Spark which takes awesome crazy photos. So you can look forward to some of those next month.

Read and Reviewed this month:

The Looking Glass House by Vanessa Tait – 3/5 stars – Review.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes – 5/5 stars – Review.

Lair of Dreams (The Diviners II) by Libba Bray – 4.5/5 stars (I actually read this last month bu only posted my review this month) – Review.

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass II) by Sarah J. Maas 5/5 stars Review.

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass III) by Sarah J. Maas – 5/5 stars – Review.

Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass IV) by Sarah J. Maas – 5/5 stars Review.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (Audiobook) – 2.5/5 stars – Review.

I also read Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (Audiobook) – review to come.

Book Hauls

I am actually posting my book hauls for the first time in this post (Yay!)

Firstly, here is a big stack of books I got this month. Firstly I got the last four books in the Penguin Red Classics series (those are the four yellow ones on top. Do not ask me why they are called the Red Classics. It makes no sense and I have no idea): The Haunted Hotel by Wilkie Collins, The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, The Haunted Dolls’ House by M. R. James, and Lois the Witch by Elizabeth Gaskell. I had to get these four secondhand as they are out of print now. I hate it when part of a series is out of print! I will need to do a photoset of all these books because they are gorgeously creepy. I got Hemlock Grove by Brian McGreevy after seeing the show on NetFlix. I was a super lucky duck and was sent Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas by Bloomsbury Australia. I got The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle after seeing Cait from PaperFury’s review. I got The Space Between Trees by Katie William because it was pretty… that’s really the only reason. I’ve heard it’s good thought too. I got Burial Rites by Hannah Kent because it was on sale on The Book Depository. I received Lair of Dreams by Allen & Unwin (who are quickly becoming my favourite publisher because they spoil me). I bought a pretty hardcover of The Lesser Dead, which I read last month and LOVED. I also received The Supernatural Enhancements, although technically last month. It arrived not 15 minutes after all my book hauls were posted, so it got pulled over to this month. I also got a hardcover of Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas after marathoning this series (AND LOVING IT!) and I will be slowly (probably not that slowly) collecting the rest of the series in hardcover.
