Photoset: The Looking Glass House by Vanessa Tait

“Women were supposed to want children more than anything else, Mary knew. Perhaps when she had her own she would feel the same way, though she could not imagine it. As far as she could see, children were like savages and it was her purpose to try to tame them until they could fit into the civilized world like everybody else.”IMG_4689 (4)_edited

This is the story of Alice Liddell, the young girl who inspired Alice in Wonderland, and it’s written by Alice Liddell’s actual great-granddaughter. Pretty cool huh? I’m currently reading this one at the moment.

Find it here: Goodreads. The Book Depository. Amazon. Kobo.

  3. Oh I’ve heard of this! Although… according to goodreads I forgot to add it to my tbr. It sounds kind of incredible, and I love that it’s actually written by Alice’s great granddaughter! That is incredibly wonderful.
AS ARE YOUR PHOTOS. Completely gorgeous. xx

    • I think the fact that it’s written by her great granddaughter makes it so interesting because it’s so thoroughly researched by someone close to it. But I have to say that this book is not at all what I expected. I was expecting a magical realism story, but it is just historical fiction.
